SERVICE AVAILABILITY
How do I determine if service is available at my location?
Please fill out the Order Request Form and we will respond within 24 hours to determine if coverage is available. UltraFast T1 Wireless provides service for LANs, PCs and laptops at an established location.Do I need a clear line of sight to a UltraFast T1 Wireless network antenna to receive service?
In most cases, yes. But depending on your distance from a UltraFast T1 Wireless network antenna, our signal can pass through some types of building materials and other obstructions, so you may be able to get service even if you can’t see the antenna. Optimal range is 6-10 miles.

How will I know if I need an external antenna?
As with any wireless network, we may need to measure signal strength, especially if you are on the fringe of a service area. If you appear to be located in a fringe area, we will schedule an appointment to have a technician come to measure the signal, select an appropriate external antenna (if necessary), and install the service. The most commonly used external antenna is approx. 6″ by 6″ and can be placed just about anywhere to get peak performance.

How do I order UltraFast T1 Wireless service?
A subscriber can contact UltraFast T1 Wireless directly at 705-726-4063.

Once service is ordered, how long will it take to install service?
Installations can be completed in ten (10) business days or less; typically, your service will be up and running in 3 days. This is much faster than the typical installation requirement of 2-4 weeks for T1 service, and 3-6 weeks needed for DSL.

RELIABILITY

Is the network reliable for business applications?
Yes, the service is great for businesses that have dozens of concurrent Web users, send or receive large graphic or database files, use delay-sensitive applications and real-time collaboration, or that simply want enterprise-level throughput at small business prices. Data throughput and uptime is consistent with industry standards.

Can I talk on the phone and use UltraFast T1 Wireless at the same time?
Yes. UltraFast T1 Wireless service uses a dedicated, “always on” connection that does not interfere with your telephone service.

Will cell phones or cordless phones interfere with UltraFast T1 Wireless?
Cell phones and 900MHz cordless phones operate on a different frequency than UltraFast T1 Wireless does, and will have no impact. A 2.4GHz phone, baby monitor or any other device operating at 2.4GHz may cause fuzziness, and disconnects. We recommend the new DECT portable phones in many cases.

Does UltraFast T1 Wireless support voice and data?
In limited areas using the 5.8 ghz client, however UltraFast T1 Wireless service was designed as a data-only service. We continue to upgrade to routers that can handle voice as well.

Does rain or snow interfere with service?
No. 2.4GHz spectrum is virtually unaffected by foliage or weather conditions. 5.8 ghz can be affected by heavy fog or torrential rain.

How reliable is UltraFast T1 Wireless’s distribution? Very reliable. The network, managed and owned by UltraFast T1 Wireless, has been developed with redundancy in key infrastructure components.

Is this technology new?
No, wireless broadband has been available for more than 15 years, but until recently, had been quite expensive. The UltraFast T1 Wireless business model has brought this superior technology down to very affordable prices.

SPEED

Is wireless broadband as fast as wireline?
Yes, in most cases it is faster. UltraFast T1 Wireless features high-speed symmetrical bandwidth, delivering the same throughput for both uploads and downloads. Plus, you are only two physical hops from the Internet backbone, which reduces data delay.

How much faster is UltraFast T1 Wireless service than T-1, DSL and cable?
With symmetrical bandwidth, our baseline service (1.5 Mbps) has a data speed which is faster than a T-1, and up to 5 times faster upstream than cable or ADSL. Our premium service (2.5 Mbps) is even faster than this. See our product sheet for specifics.

SAFETY AND SECURITY

How secure is the UltraFast T1 Wireless network?
While no network is 100% secure, we believe that the UltraFast T1 Wireless network is as secure or more secure than any other service you can use for Internet access. UltraFast T1 Wireless provides security at three levels:

  1. Signal security. UltraFast T1 Wireless uses Direct Sequence Spread Spectrum (DSSS), a method that was developed for military applications requiring resistance to noise, interference, jamming and unauthorized listening.
  2. Station authentication. In order for a wireless modem to connect with an access point (the next device on the wireless network,) it must present a special 64-bit value that is set when the access point is configured. Without the correct value, the wireless modem cannot learn the DSSS algorithm required to obtain and decode the next message from that access point.
  3. User authentication. To access the New UltraFast T1 Wireless network, your mac address must be listed in our data base.

How does UltraFast T1 Wireless security compare with cable service security?
UltraFast T1 Wireless service is actually more secure than cable service. With UltraFast T1 Wireless, each wireless modem receives and passes to its associated Ethernet card only those messages addressed to that card. Whereas, on a cable network, every computer in the neighborhood can listen to all messages on the local network using readily available “sniffer” software. And if a cable access user has turned on file sharing, other users in the neighborhood can potentially access your files and programs. This is not possible when connected to the UltraFast T1 Wireless network.

Can other users see my messages?
Practically speaking, no. UltraFast T1 Wireless uses a signal scrambling technology that was developed for secure military communications. For each message the radio signal is spread over multiple channels. Outsiders cannot “see” your message without going to the extreme expense of simultaneously monitoring all channels, figuring out where message fragments from one user begin and end, reassembling the fragments, and decoding the messages.

Can other users see files on my computer?
No.

Can UltraFast T1 Wireless provide enhanced security if requested?
Yes. We can provide 3 types of encryption for those subscribers dealing with sensitive information, and can support standard VPN and firewall solutions.

Are there health risks associated with cell phones and other wireless devices?
No. There’s very strong scientific evidence that cell phones and other wireless devices like ours do not have any health risks associated with their use. Given that our wireless modem outputs a much weaker radio signal than the equipment used in these studies, at a less sustained rate, and is generally positioned further from the user than is a cell phone, we believe it is safe to conclude that the favorable results of these studies apply to our equipment as well.

AFFORDABILITY

How much does the service cost?
UltraFast T1 Wireless Wireless Broadband Service is available for a fraction of the cost that companies would pay for traditional wireline T1s – less than $400 per month – and provides data speed that is faster than a T1. View our pricing page or choose a UltraFast T1 Wireless affiliate for specifics.

What equipment will be installed at my location? Is it expensive?
As part of the installation process, UltraFast T1 Wireless will install an antenna inside a window or on a rooftop. The antenna will then connect to equipment that can directly connect to your LAN, PC or laptop.

Question:
Hi, we recently moved from moonstone to wyebridge and had to give up our high speed. We have a bell turbo hub and it sucks big time I need highspeed for work but have 4 teenage children who r always on computer could you please send me more info.
Thank you, Debbie

Answer:
Hi Deb,
We are hi speed. In fact we are the pioneers of wireless hi speed going back to 2001. Every internet connection is affected by what others are doing on the same network. 10 people can be on but if they are just surfing or checking email they are all fast. If one person starts to download a movie they will take all the bandwidth the router will give them and hog it up.

So it is not the number of people but it is what those people are doing.

There are many flavours of hi speed ….
– Dsl
– Cable
– fiber optic
– optical
– microwave
– wireless cards
– wireless hubs
– turbo sticks
– rocket sticks

The only one that is truly stellar is the fiber optic. The rest are really crap by comparison and each one has its good points and its bad points.

Some are a good fit and some are a bad fit.

We are a good fit for most people BUT not all. Sometimes….many times we are the only fit……with 80 towers and growing we go where no other ISP’s care or dare to go.

Question:
Last month I used more bandwidth than I usually do. What could be the cause?

Answer:
Did you take advantage of logging into your account on the server? This allows you to track your useage in real time and see what really uses bandwidth.

Question:
When I am using alot of bandwidth, what things are using the most?

Answer:
Here is a list of a few:

  • YouTube clips are huge, especially in HD mode
  • Netflix – watching any movie or TV show online uses a lot of resources
  • skype uses in both directions & it adds up
  • listening to live radio – the more hours you listen, the more it adds up
  • facebook clips
  • loading pictures back & forth (email) some pictures taken in 5, 6, 10, 12 mp are high
  • using piracy programs to get “free” music is very dangerous these days, not only from the aspect of usage, but trojan viruses, etc. Often a program just being on the hard drive can load during startup and make the computer into a server & you pay for the constant juge uploading. Be safe & delete any file sharing programs.
  • leaving a vpm running all day can use up to 15 gb per month. So if you are not online, log out!
